Burnaby School District

Located near downtown Vancouver, with well-established educational resources.

Burnaby School District (SD41) sits in the heart of Metro Vancouver — well-connected, close to downtown, and combining city life with strong educational resources. The district runs eight public high schools (grades 8–12), all welcoming international students, each with its own strengths and character.

Academically, Burnaby offers the largest Advanced Placement (AP) program in Canada, along with 100+ electives, five sports academies, and courses spanning arts, performance, robotics, programming, business and French immersion — so students can shape a learning path around their own interests and abilities. Students may complete a full BC high school graduation (the Dogwood Diploma, with optional summer courses to graduate faster), or start with a shorter one-semester or one-year program (from around 3–4 months).

International student support is comprehensive: a pre-departure online English assessment and orientation, a welcoming homestay family on arrival, and a dedicated International Student Advisor and school counsellor supporting each student academically and personally throughout the year. A strong fit for students who want a city setting with a focus on academics and university pathways.
